Egypt

Well, we've been in Egypt about 2 weeks and are off to Jordan this morning.  We are at Mount Sinai now, - with some religious signifiance.

Egypt has been an interesting place. We've seen an amazing amount of historical sites - the pyramids and the sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, Temples at Luxor and Karnak and several other places as well.  We spent a day and night on El Nile on a falucca , or Egyptian boat.  Fabulous.  Today we are on the Red Sea looking at the mountains of Saudia Arabia.  The archeological sites of Egypt are truly amazing.

Our group has been great -  Irish, Aussies, Americans, and Canadians.  We've had lots of fun with everyone.

Unfortunately, we haven't met any Egyptian women at all.  Many are fully covered, and they just aren't around.  We aren't too fond of the men - very aggressive in trying to get people to buy and quite disrespectful of women in general.  So, although we had a great time, it will be a long time before we come back.  We just don't need the hassles.  Not to say we aren't taking a positive view of it all.  Looking forward to Jordan and to see the difference in that culture.

Internet access is not good, so I haven't blogged much or sent any newsletters.  After Jordan we are off to Istanbul and hopefully I can catch up there.
