St. Kilda Beach

Here's a picture of the St. Kilda skyline. Melbourne is located on a bay and has a major port.  St. Kilda is a popular beach, especially with the younger crowd, who live and work in this area.  It's a bit seedy, so they say, but we didn't notice this, just the throngs of people who crowded the beaches and many restaurants.  As Melbourne is so far south and therefore cold, the beaches are only usable about three months of the year.  One of the   streets was lined with craft booths, scraves, pottery, leather work, art, jewellery and the like and there are harbour cruises, fishing excurions and a nightly boat trip to see the approximately 1000 penguins who come ashore to sleep in their rock crevices. It's as though Kits Beach and 4th Avenue were located in the same place instead of a few blocks apart.  It was a great day to walk, people watch, and enjoy excellent food.
