Hi:

Well, here it is, the holiday weekend in July, and we still have cold weather here in Vancouver.  Theoretically it is supposed to rain tomorrow, and the weekend is generally cold and not sunny.

What to do, what to do?  We decided against going away. Any place we could comfortably drive to will probably have the same weather.  But, if you look around, there is a plethora of things happening here.  Many of them are indoors.

The Jazz Festival is on.  Lots of big acts are in town. We went to the WIllie Nelson concert last night.  Fabulous.  I didnt realize he was such a great guitarist as well as singer.  Having only listened to his CD's, I assumed the guitar solos were played by someone else.  I was very impressed.  The people beside us had been to the Norah Jones concert the week before.  Last week Sonny Rollins played here.

There are lots of acts and shows, free and not-free all over the town this weekend.  As well, we have the Steinway pianos in town at Tom Lee.  Monet to Dali is at the Vancouver Art Gallery; a perfect activity for the 100% rain that will fall tomorrow. Lots to do, and if I regard it as a holiday, I can be out all day enjoying my own city.

 M.
