Clarify your Values

Many baby boomers go through a process of clarifying their values.  By this I don't mean deciding what's right or wrong.  More to the point, this speaks about figuring what you value  more of and value less.  We can not be all things, do all things, see all things.  Instead of tring to do it all, and perhaps getting locked into a trap of business, ask yourself "what brings me happiness".  Perhaps it might be focusing on one hobby and becoming proficient and skilful at it.  It might be simply determining that your health is most important, and focusing on exercising daily.

As we move along in years, we realize that we may never do some things again, and that this is OK.  I probably will never camp again in the traditional style, that is on an air mattress in a small tent.  So, what.  I enjoyed it in the past, but will enjoy other things in the future.

This realization means I can get rid of the tent and sleeping bag, and all the other accoutrements of camping.  Good for me and good for others who will have use of the equipment.  Clarifying my values in this sense doesn't mean I will not enjoy nature again; it just means I won't have stiff bones in the morning as I do it.
