Vitamin D important if no sun

Hi:

Did you know that you should take a vitamin D supplement if you live north of the Los Angeles latitude. Apparently areas north of that simply do not get enough sun, especially in winter.

Our bodies produce Vitamin D from the sun. With the long winter days, especially in grey climates, the sun may not even appear.  Some winter climates, especially those with snow, have wonderful bright days, and even though it is freezing, it is cheerful.  The sun shines!  But, even if it is out, unless you are out in it for at lease one-half hour, you are not getting any of it.

Also, if you are covered in sunscreen, you will need to supplement.

I've also learned that the body does not assimilate Vitamin D as you get along in your years, so be aware of that.

Vitamin D is important for bone and muscle health.
