Enjoying your Money

Hi:

People who have a lot of money have often worked very hard to get it.  They scrimped and saved when they were younger and finally, through a series of good decisions and hard work, are relatively well-off.

Some of these people still have the poverty mentality.  Unfortunately, they may have millions, but they live like cheapskates.  They may not pay for services they need and are always looking for a good deal.  Their old habit of saving money may have been useful in the past, but may need to be reconsidered now.

Many people will die will millions, which their kids will enjoy.  In the interim, the parents are still clipping coupons,  and finding two-for-one specials.  Now maybe they get pleasure from finding a deal. But it also might be time to consider their perspective on money.  They probably do not need to earn any more or wait for the specials.

In the long run, if they spent a couple of thousand more each year to eat in better restaurants, and treated themselves more often, how much of a dent would that put in their investment portfolios?  Not an appreciable amount, I might guess.

If this is you, give your head a shake.  You only live once.  Retirement is supposed to be the time to enjoy yourself, not worry about pennies.
